English Premier League, Scottish League, among others have postponed their matches this weekend following the death of Queen Elizabeth II.
Football Leagues in England like Premier League, English Football League, Championship, League One, League Two, Scottish and non-League have deferred their matches to pay their respects to the Queen.
This decision was in no way forced by the UK government, as the said football Leagues took to their social media to pass these announcements to the general public.
The football associations of England, Wales, and Scotland have postponed all matches into next week after the death of the Queen, but rugby games will go on as planned, with allocated time of silence to honour the Queen before each match.

It is important to note that halting the matches is a mark of respect, though some fans and public figures have voiced criticism on social media, suggesting sport would have brought people together.
Football lovers have expressed mixed feelings towards the recent development in the game. Some praised the teams for their actions, while others were saddened by the news.
